In Black Whale Tier 5's dining hall, the members of the Phantom Troupe gather. Someone reports that they do not know which floor Hisoka is in, and that the search throughout Tier 5 for someone over 190cm came to naught. They explain further that each of the lower floors are controlled by a Mafia family: Cha-R Family controls the 5th floor, Xi-Yu Family the 4th floor, and Heil-Ly Family the 3rd floor.
Chrollo then asks the Troupe's latest member, Illumi Zoldyck, to introduce himself. Illumi introduces himself as the oldest son of the Zoldyck Family, that Killua and Kalluto are his younger brothers, and discloses that Hisoka had requested him to join the Spiders. He explains that he once had a give-and-take relationship with Hisoka, though both of them knew that someone would have to kill the other one day. According to Illumi, Hisoka hired him to kill himself (Hisoka) and that the success of the contract allows Illumi to get his reward.
A group from the Cha-R Family arrives at the Troupe's table and rudely asks them to move. Chrollo refuses, asking them to move somewhere else instead. The other Mafia members point their guns at him, but the group's leader halts them. He identifies the other group as the Phantom Troupe and praises them for their rampage back in Yorknew City. Due to that incident, the other Mafia families barely worked to get a pass for the New Continent. The leader persuades them to move quietly and do their business somewhere else. The Spiders stand and Chrollo tells the leader that they are looking for someone. The leader proposes that they look at the Royal Army's passenger list, though he informs them that they will need tickets to leave Tier 5. He offers Chrollo and his Spiders to join the Cha-R Family, but Chrollo politely declines. Before the Spiders completely leave, Chrollo asks how to get to the first tier, to which the leader angrily responds for Chrollo getting too cocky.
As the Spiders are leaving, the leader asks one of his companions, Sun-bin, about his opinion on the Troupe. Sun-Bin compares them with to wild dragons, unable to be tamed. He explains that the Troupe's unconcealed Nen is worrisome. The leader then decides to stop the Troupe and send word to their boss. Sun-Bin expresses his hatred for bloodshed, but the leader calls him a liar.
Elsewhere, Phinks muses that the leader showed his hand when Chrollo mentioned the first tier, concluding that there might be treasures hidden there. Chrollo disregards the idea of stealing and focuses on Hisoka instead. Now that they have shared information, he orders the Troupe members to take care of the rest. He claims that he wants to have a party, though they still lack the cake. He orders the members to bring him Hisoka's head, and then the Troupe can regroup afterwards.
The members scatter, but Shizuku and Bonolenov follow after Chrollo and ask to team up with him. Chrollo agrees, if he gets to kill Hisoka as a condition. Shizuku has no problem with it, since she admits that both she and Bonolenov are powerless against Hisoka's Bungee Gum. Chrollo shares his plan of engaging Hisoka in a fight and asks the two Spiders of their plans. Shizuku would disguise herself while searching and Bonolenov can transform himself using his ability. However, Bonolenov is clueless how to use it and asks for their boss' assistance. Chrollo concurs and wants them to do something for him. In return, Shizuku also asks for Chrollo to tell their fortunes again. Unfortunately, Chrollo cannot do so, since the ability vanished from his book, which gives Shizuku an idea as to why. Then she comes into a conclusion that Chrollo's book is like a "death note", and Bonolenov suggests that she keep her thoughts to herself.
Upon hearing of the presence of the Phantom Troupe on the Black Whale, Onior Longbao, the head of the Xi-Yu Family, talks about the necessity of balance of power to Brocco Li, the head of the Cha-R Family. Brocco notes that the Troupe is more savage than that. Both order their Underbosses to find Hisoka before the Troupe does. Brocco offers 10 million Jenny Currency Symbol to the person who finds Hisoka, as well as 10 million to the squad leader. Onior orders his guard to find males traveling alone or in a family of 3 or more.
Morena Prudo, head of the Heil-Ly Family and the illegitimate daughter of Nasubi, talks to her family, where she thanks them for their contribution. She silently thinks to herself that she wants to see the world destroyed. She kisses each member, bestowing them with the leveling system that can help them rise in ranking. 1 level is for regular people, 10 levels for Nen users, and 50 levels for killing a prince.
Second Rakers are illegitimate descendants of the king who are incapable of ascending to the throne. They are given two scars on the face when they are born, and they are forced to stay out of the public eye. Morena thinks about how cruel it is to bring a child into the world and mistreat it, and she remarks on the bond she has with her scar, as it helped her find her "balance". She declares that her will to live is simply in order to bring down the world.
The Phantom Troupe discusses the dynamics of the mafia families and their relations to the princes of the ship. Nobunaga, Phinks, and Feitan decide to retrieve weapons from the storage facility. Nobunaga insists on going alone, but Feitan and Phinks refuse to accept, reminding him that he himself admitted that Hisoka was stronger than he. In the warehouse, they are guided by a man who disappears from Nobunaga's En. They later find the wound-ridden corpse of the man, astonishing them.
On Deck 3, 20 people were murdered by a man who, according to a witness, was in his twenties who had a large crescent-shaped scar on his left cheek. Mizaistom asks to speak to the witness directly.
Luini of the Heil-Ly Family, who matches the description of the murderer, watches the Phantom Troupe members in the warehouse from a bag above, and expresses his admiration for them, wishing to destroy the world with them.
Cashew, interrogated by Zodiacs member Mizaistom, recounts how the murder happened. According to her account, she was talking with another woman when they heard someone knocking on the door. The woman stood up to answer, but she was murdered. The suspect ordered Cashew to step out of the toilet and not make a noise, which, out of fear, Cashew obeyed. She recalls how the suspect started saying things, when there is a sudden commotion outside the passenger room. Due to the noise, the suspect locked himself inside the toilet, and when the army opened it, the man was gone.
Mizaistom insists that the toilet is too small for a rat, let alone a human, but Cashew stands with her statement. He starts analyzing the situation, wondering why the culprit decided to let Cashew live when he mercilessly killed 20 people already. He asks again about Cashew's relationship with the victim, and she answers that they happened to meet in the cafeteria and became friends. She starts crying in front of Mizaistom and laments how she never got to know the victim. Mizaistom encourages her to rest for now.
Cashew leaves. She remembers her conversation with Luini and their plan to sabotage the investigation by mixing lies with the truth. Luini commends her and also reminds her to keep mentioning his scar. He says he wants to see how long the investigation team from the army and Hunter Association would take to identify the suspect. Cashew warns him about being executed if he is found out, but Luini is confident that he would not be caught; if he is, he would simply use his ability to escape. Cashew ponders to herself whether rushing the plan is worth it; she decides to take it slow and focus on increasing her level and developing her ability.Luini uses his spatial teleportation ability to open to another destination and kills more people. He intends to "collaborate" with the Spiders. At the warehouse entrance, Phinks, Nobunaga and Feitan find the Cha-R Family bodyguards vanished, while one of the guards seemingly escaped. They see a trail of dried blood leading to somewhere, and Phinks expresses his misgivings about the entire ordeal of the suspect trying to get the Spiders framed for murder. Nobunaga believes that another family is trying to orchestrate a confrontation between the Cha-R Family and the Spiders. As they follow the trail, they wonder if it is Hisoka's doing. Feitan refutes the idea, stating that the damage was done sloppily by a blade, not a card. They later find themselves in a dead end with a door. Nobunaga tries the door, but it is locked. On the other side of the hallway, Ken'i and his group appears. He introduces himself as an Underboss and claims that despite his superiors asking him to wait, Wang could not. He gets straight to the point and asks if the Spiders attacked their warehouse keepers.
In the cafeteria, Franklin eats alone until he is approached by Cha-R Family's Consigliere Ittoku. Franklin demands what else they want from him, and Ittoku asks if Franklin is also hunting for Hisoka. Franklin answers that he does not take pointless actions and would opt to wait for Hisoka to show himself, since it is the magician's plan to kill all Spiders. Ittoku informs him of the situation in the warehouse and about three members going there to retrieve their weapons, but Franklin knows none of the Spiders killed and abducted their warehouse keepers. As he is leaving, Ittoku asks if Hisoka is the only reason why the Phantom Troupe boarded the ship. Franklin simply states that they are also thieves, but he assures that Hisoka is their top priority. The Troupe will not start unnecessary fights unless someone else does it.
In the warehouse, Wang hears from someone, probably Ittoku, of the situation. Wang apologizes to the three Spiders. He tells them the story of how the culprit dragged bodies into the family hideout, and that his face was covered in blood, making it hard to see his face. He says the culprit kept putting the blame on the Spiders, to which Phinks hastily denies. Phinks suggests that entering the family hideout was the culprit's intentions in the first place; he explains to Wang the requirements for spatial teleportation Nen abilities. Wang thinks how dangerous the Phantom Troupe really is and decides to crush them. Aloud, he proposes a collaboration with the Spiders.
