Episode 131: Following Shaiapouf's lie to Neferpitou that Komugi has been recovered, one of Shaiapouf's clones appears before Palm and Killua. The clone tells them that Gon will be killed by Neferpitou if Komugi is not recovered from them. Killua's eyes darken at this statement and he crushes the clone instantly. Shaiapouf's main body reacts at the attack from somewhere in the palace. Killua leaves Komugi in Palm's hands as he uses his Godspeed Nen ability to run after Gon.
In Peijin, Neferpitou's Doctor Blythe finishes healing the broken left arm. After testing her arm, Neferpitou turns to Gon and prepares for a fight. Gon, however, is devastated to learn that Kite is actually dead, and calls Neferpitou a liar. A great surge of dark aura surrounds him, catching Neferpitou off-guard and wondering about the immense power. The room darkens further, and Gon begins to transform into a tall and dark figure. Neferpitou is overwhelmed with confusion, and regards the power similar to the Chimera Ant King. As the transformation still takes place, Neferpitou summons her Terpsichora ability and instantly goes for the kill. However, Gon vanishes from the room. Neferpitou perceives that Gon could be going after the King and so she runs outside, only to find a newly-transformed Gon at the doorway. Standing tall and muscular, the new Gon challenges Neferpitou to a fight outside the building, as he does not want it to be destroyed. Back in the dark room, Kite's corpse lies motionless and deserted.
Neferpitou follows Gon outside the building, and she concludes that Gon forced his body to mature at the point that he can defeat the Royal Guard. As he follows behind, Neferpitou leaps toward Gon in another attempt to kill him, but Gon evades all of Neferpitou's attacks. Gon kicks Neferpitou on the abdomen and sends her flying to the air. Then, Gon proceeds to his Jajanken stance, summoning great power as Neferpitou descends. At point-blank range, Gon punches Neferpitou on the face and the Royal Guard crashes against the trees and boulders. Neferpitou's face is shattered from the impact and renders her indisposed on the ground.
Meanwhile, Killua arrives in the forest. From afar, he witnesses the power, wondering to whom it belonged to. He later arrives to find Gon kneeling beside the corpse of Neferpitou, continuously pounding on the shattered head. With Jajanken, Gon delivers the final blow on Neferpitou. Gon stands up and tells Kite that he has finished the job as expected. Killua calls out for Gon, who turned around and is revealed to be crying. He is immediately reminded of Biscuit's ability to change forms, but Killua realizes that Gon's transformation is different.
From behind them, Neferpitou's Terpsichora activates and manipulates the lifeless body of Neferpitou. Killua reacts from the movement and rushes to save Gon, but Neferpitou's body moves faster and rips off Gon's right arm. Neferpitou's great devotion to the King allowed her Terpsichora ability to move her corpse, utilizing it as a puppet and chasing its prey. In that moment, Gon reassures Killua that his injury does not hurt at all. Neferpitou's body leaps again, and Gon punches the neck. Then, Gon grabs his torn right arm and slams it against Neferpitou's chest. He prepares to use another Jajanken, a stronger one, until Killua calls out his name. In a fleeting moment, Gon snaps out of his rage, but a powerful explosion comes shortly, destroying the whole forest.
Episode 132: As Gon dedicated all of his power to finish off Neferpitou, Meruem enters West tower where Komugi had been, accompanied by Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi to retrieve his memories. Meruem realizes that something is missing but is unable remember it. As a sign of relief Shaiapouf gives signal to Menthuthuyoupi to which Menthuthuyoupi understands that he also agree that they couldn't let the King see Komugi. They think the King should ideally stay as he is now. Meruem feels he still is missing something from the place to which Shaiapouf reacts and tells Meruem that the Meruem's memories can be verified through what he sees and can recover all the memories he needs. Shaiapouf tells Meruem about the delay in the selection and tells that the remaining humans will gather in the plain before the palace. Suddenly Shaiapouf remembers and tells Meruem that he needs to use his scales on the humans on their way to the palace to hypnotize them.
Menthuthuyoupi tells he'll look for Neferpitou in the meantime as he didn't have the strength to protect the Meruem. Hearing words of Menthuthuyoupi mentioning Neferpitou, Meruem's memory triggers and he remembers about Neferpitou. Shaiapouf realizes not just the images but the words can also trigger Meruem's memory. Shaiapouf gives signal to Menthuthuyoupi to tell Neferpitou to keep quite about the situation. Suddenly Meruem have a headache and remembers a task giving to Neferpitou to do something for him. Meruem orders Menthuthuyoupi to bring the Neferpitou to him at once. Meruem decides to hunt down the intruders himself to which Shaiapouf panics and tries to stop him to which Meruem becomes furious, releases his aura and demands a honest answer from Shaiapouf. Seeing Meruem's overwhelming aura, Shaiapouf tells Meruem that the King is the ultimate being.
The aura left's the extermination team in total despair. Sensing Meruem's overwhelming aura, Knuckle tells Meleoron to retreat as this is isn't something they can handle and realizes his mistake not to inform the Hunter Association at once. Suddenly at that moment, in a literal flash, Meruem activates and lit up the entire palace with his En. Sensing two enemies nearby, he knocks out Knuckle unconscious. Before thinking that he should activate his power, Meleoron too was knocked out by Meruem. Knuckle's APR disappears from Shaiapouf as Meruem brings Knuckle and Meleoron for interrogating in the West tower's room.
Just as Meruem begins to head out to hunt down the two other intruders, Shaiapouf realizing his fear coming true, once again stops Meruem from heading out. He proposes a contest to Meruem hearing which Meruem again haves a headache. A contest to see who will locates their target first, Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi who'll search for Neferpitou or Meruem who'll search for remaining two Nen users. Shaiapouf demands Meruem to wait for the contest as he needs to hypnotize the humans arriving there. Shaiapouf demands additional time and a handicap to the King. He tells Meruem to use En only not more than once hearing which Meruem finds it amusing and accepts the contest. Meruem too also proposes a proposal. Should Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi lose, they should tell what they're hiding from the King otherwise which if they win, they get to protect that secret. Shaiapouf gather his clones and return to his original form and accepts the proposal by the King. Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi departs from the King. Shaiapouf tells Menthuthuyoupi to return to the West tower to wait for the Neferpitou's return and to not let Neferpitou to go near the King.
Meanwhile Palm who is holding on to Komugi runs away form the King. Using her Wink Blue ability, Palm sees Gon whose hair is very long carried by Killua walking. Unable to decide what she have to do, Palm runs to the shutter leading to the underground. Soon enough, she is joined by the Ikalgo and they head to the underground. Palm tells Ikalgo about the current situation as they head towards one of the Bizeff's room to hide Komugi. The episode ends while Meruem still trying to recover his memories.
Episode 133: As Shaiapouf continues to scatter his scales, the humans in front of the palace begin to wake from their trance. Some perceive that the guards are not commanding them anymore, as though their puppet-strings are gone. A few moments later, Shaiapouf successfully hypnotizes some of the crowd, and moves on to another. He admits that his power is not as strong after giving most of his power to the King. He worries about Neferpitou, who still has not returned. Shaiapouf regards Pitou's boy opponent, Gon, not to seem so strong.
Meanwhile, Palm and Ikalgo take refuge in Bizeff's underground place. It is revealed that Welfin and Bloster are within the truck. Ikalgo instructs Welfin to act as a messenger to the King, delivering a message that they will trade Komugi in exchange for both Knuckle and Meleoron. Welfin mentally refuses as he fears to be killed by the King. He reluctantly agrees, and limps out of the truck on a crutch. To further persuade him, Ikalgo begins to recount on Welfin's past and mentions Gyro. Welfin is instantly angered at this, but Ikalgo continues to recall Welfin's former name, Zaikahal. He reminds Welfin how the Chimera Ants are the real enemies of NGL. Welfin is astonished that Ikalgo knows his past, and asks him about it. Though he cannot remember his own name, Ikalgo narrates that he and Zaikahal were companions in their human lives, along with Bloster, who remembers nothing as well. Welfin climbs in the truck and asks one more time about Gyro. Ikalgo admits that he knows nothing of Gyro's situation, but Gyro cannot be easily killed.
Welfin frees the four other women that Bizeff keeps in his underground lair, and drives outside. Menthuthuyoupi stands guard on top of the palace, anticipating the return of Neferpitou as well. He notices the truck moving beneath him and confronts Welfin. The wolf Chimera Ant climbs out of the truck and delivers Ikalgo's offer of exchange. Menthuthuyoupi feigns that he will tell the King, but actually decides to take the message to Shaiapouf. Before the Royal Guard can fully leave, Welfin asks whether Youpi remembers something from his past. Annoyed, Menthuthuyoupi answers that he is one of the Royal Guard, and no one else. He flies off to leave again, but Welfin calls him one more time. For the second time, Menthuthuyoupi turns to Welfin, only to be threatened by Welfin's Nen ability Missileman. Welfin demands some answers from Youpi, who, in a fleeting moment of rage, confronts Welfin as blood tickle from his nose.
Back in the Royal Palace of East Gorteau, Chimera Ant King Meruem struggles to recall his memories. The word "contest" sparks a fragment of his memories. He searches around the room, turning over the piles of rocks from the previous palace attack. Finally, a white tile from a Gungi board emerges, which successfully elicits more memories. Meruem remembers an unfinished contest, something that he has not won yet. As his memories slowly return, blood trickles.
Ten minutes later, Shaiapouf rushes back to the palace, but finds no Menthuthuyoupi. He notices the truck on the ground and flies over to it. No one else is there but Menthuthuyoupi's lifeless body. Shaiapouf stares down in disbelief at the death of his brother and companion. Thus, he quickly returns to the King's side, and finds him playing on the ground with an improvised Gungi board. He reports that Menthuthuyoupi has been killed and the contest should be off. Not exactly amused, the King rises from his seat and demands to know Shaiapouf's secrets.
Palm and Ikalgo remain in Komugi's side as they plan their next steps. Palm explains that Komugi is someone special to the King. She continues to explain that the Royal Guard can be torn in protecting Komugi, like Neferpitou, and killing Komugi, like Shaiapouf. Ikalgo thinks otherwise as the Royal Guard cannot disobey their King. When the King unleashed his En, Palm deduces that the King did not sense Komugi's presence, because Palm covered her with her hair. In conclusion, Palm states that if Komugi is covered and hidden, the King will not find her. Thus, Ikalgo and Palm take Komugi to the lower part of the underground lair, hiding her in a crate.
Meanwhile, Meruem and Shaiapouf are walking outside of the palace. Shaiapouf becomes desperate of Neferpitou's return. As he follows the King, he coughs and is horrified to see blood there.
Episode 134: The episode begins with the introduction of showing the dark nature of humanity - despair and malice. The Miniature Rose was very poisonous and was superior to those toxins. Those who were able to survive the explosion were the unfortunate ones as the poison degrades the organs and continues to emit new poison until the very end the victim dies. The bomb was a demonic weapon more inhumane than any other.
Shaiapouf wonders what is happening to his body and hides his blood on hands from the King Meruem and refuses to divulge his secret. But Meruem sees right through him and became more curious about Shaiapouf's secret. Meruem uses his final permissible En and enlightens his surrounding with that. There he notices the differences in the surrounding from the very first time he used En. In a blink of an eye Meruem reaches to Welfin who did not react to his En previously. Meruem asks Welfin if he was the one who killed Menthuthuyoupi, to which Welfin in a scared voice replies that he wasn't. Welfin explains Menthuthuyoupi was talking to him when he suddenly coughed up a blood, became overcome with pain and died. Menthuthuyoupi died without answering any of his questions. Suddenly Shaiapouf appears beside the King. Welfin panics at the fact that Shaiapouf has the ability to read minds. Shaiapouf feels that Welfin is a threat and decides to try eliminate him immediately. Before Shaiapouf proceeds any further, he is interrupted by Meruem. Meruem reveals that he can now sense the emotions with his En and feels Welfin's unbridled hostility towards him. Shaiapouf is delighted by the fact that the King has inherited his Spiritual Message ability and yet feels uneasiness. Before Meruem proceeds any further to ask questions from Welfin, he is stopped by Shaiapouf.
Shaiapouf tells that Welfin has deep ties with his secret and if the King continues to question him any further, he might reveal it. He uses the power of "truth" to stop the King. Meanwhile Welfin realizes his mistake of getting almighty and thinks about escaping from the situation. He realizes just one word is needed to decide if he'll live or die. The King becomes furious by Shaiapouf's interrupting and releases his overwhelming murderous aura and tells Shaiapouf to prepare to accept the consequences. Loyalty and hostility were equally meaningless before the King. Shaiapouf decides to keep the secret and determines to sacrifice himself to his loyalty towards the King. But his incredible resolve and determination stops the King.
Upon learning his fate and seeing visions his death of being eaten by the King, Welfin instantly appeared to age one hundred years old due to his fear. Caught between the desire to live and avoid death, Welfin thinks hardly of that one word, his first and last that will determine if he'll live or die. As his brain cells began working harder than ever before, he made a choice that he never would have in normal circumstances and uttered the name of Komugi. Being surprised and shocked by that one word, Meruem regains all of his memories about Komugi and the time spend with her playing Gungi. That one word reveals all of the Shaiapouf's secret and leaves Shaiapouf in completely shocked state and tears.
Shaiapouf realizes Meruem values Komugi more than he feared and asks for the punishment for his actions. But Meruem refuse by stating that "they are one now" and orders him to continue to search for Neferpitou and release the two captured intruders after getting the information. Meruem thanks Welfin for helping him to remember something very important and tells Welfin he's free to go wherever he wishes to. Welfin tells that they're (Palm and Ikalgo) waiting in Bizeff's private courtyard, in Area D and began to scream all over against the King. Meruem responds to that and wishes Welfin for a good human life. The episode ends with Meruem walking away and leaving Shaiapouf in total shred of tears.
Episode 135: The particles of Meruem's En spreads throughout the underground area of Bizeff. The King enters one of the houses and stops in front of a wardrobe, where Palm hides herself. The King acknowledges her presence, and asks her to take him to Komugi. Utterly surprised and doubtful, Palm remains silent. Meruem continues to explain that the battle is over and his only wish is to spend his remaining time with the human. Palm emerges from her hiding place and tells him that it is impossible for the King to admit defeat and care for a human. He insists on Komugi's location, well-knowing that he has only a short amount of time left. Instead, Palm urges the King to torture her, but he refuses. Meruem begins to kneel in front of her but Palm cries for him to stop. Finally, she tells him Komugi's location on the condition that she is allowed to watch their final moments together. The King agrees as Palm mentally apologizes to Killua.
Outside the palace, Shaiapouf lies lifeless beside the column of the hypnotized humans, his black cape ripped off by a strong gust of wind. King Meruem finds Komugi sleeping in a crate, and smiles as he wakes her up. In the morning, many Hunter Association aircrafts arrive at the Royal Palace of East Gorteau. A news team reports that the body of Ming Jol-ik has been found under the rubble but his secretary Bizeff is still missing. In a hospital, Morel talks to Beans about Palm staying behind. In his office, Beans takes out a DVD and watches it, silently thanking Netero for a job well done. The same video is released to the public, which contains his message of resignation as Chairman of the Hunter Association and gives instructions for choosing his successor. In an unnamed country, the real Ming Jol-ik spends the rest of his days living on a farm.
Palm approaches Ikalgo and announces that it is over. In her memories, an awake Komugi sets up a Gungi board while narrating what happened to her during the invasion. She tells King Meruem that someone kidnapped her and he must have saved her, but Meruem replies that one of his subordinates did that. He tells her that he is unworthy of their loyalty and Komugi promises to thank them once they cross paths. Meruem says he'll relay her gratitude since he'll be seeing them soon. As they begin their game, Meruem reminds Komugi she once asked him his name. He then introduces himself as Meruem. Komugi does the same, kneeling on the floor. He insists that Komugi should not use an honorific after his name, but she refuses as well. He makes her promise that if he beats her at Gungi, she will stop addressing him with an honorific. When Komugi asks if she will die, Meruem assures her that he is not the same person as before.
During the game, he almost finds a way to defeat her. Komugi begins to cry and asks how so many wonderful things can happen to someone like her. The King informs her about the contagious poison he received from his previous battle, and that she may be poisoned as well if she stays too long with him. Komugi ignores him and continues to play Gungi with him. She believes she was born for this moment, and so is Meruem.
The light from Meruem's En slowly dwindles. He asks if she is still there, and she answers. After another move, he recognizes that he is in checkmate. He calls her name again, and she answers again. Komugi encourages him to another match, saying the loser goes first at which he replies that he never once defeated her but Komugi says they're just getting started. Meruem admits that he is tired and needs to take a short rest. He asks her to hold his hand. He promises he will wake up shortly but asks her if she will stay by his side until he then. She says she never left his side and will always be here. He thanks her and asks her if she will call him by his name one last time. Komugi bids him good night, as she acknowledges that she will be joining him soon.
