Episode 21: Rades Spirito, a former Magic Knight expelled from his squad plots revenge against the Clover Kingdom. Noelle’s siblings and several other nobles all attack Asta together, furious that he dares stand up to them. Asta is forced to draw both his swords to fight Noelle’s brothers Solid and Nozel. The fight is stopped when Nozel unleashes his mana, freezing everybody with fear, including Asta who he intends to punish himself. Fuegoleon Vermilion, Mimosa’s cousin and captain of the Crimson Lion’s, questions the nobles honour for teaming up to bully Asta. His brother, Leopold, is impressed by Asta and decides to become his rival. This leads to captains Nozel and Fuegoleon both unleashing their mana against each other in a battle of wills. Before any damage can be caused the city is attacked by Rades and his zombie army who are unaffected by damage caused to their bodies and kill numerous citizens and mages. Asta chooses to rush to the front lines to protect the commoners while the nobles split up to protect different parts of the city. Rades is about to kill a little girl but Asta slices through a group of Zombies, totally destroying them, and lunges at Rades.
Episode 22: Rades knows who Asta is but is still confused that his zombies were destroyed so easily, so he summons even more. The Silver Eagles, Golden Dawn and Crimson Lions begin fighting zombies throughout the city, quickly finding the zombies only stay dead if their bodies are totally destroyed. Asta attacks Rades directly so he summons a more powerful magic wielding zombie called No. 4 Jimmy who shoots Asta in the face with a magic bullet that infects his flesh with bleeding curse magic, making Asta bleed continuously. He parries the next bullets so Jimmy begins firing at the girl instead, forcing Asta to protect her. Noelle sees Asta is in trouble but due to her siblings bullying has lost all confidence in her abilities. Fuegoleon sees this and bangs Noelle on the head as punishment for hesitating, telling her to either work to become stronger or stay weak forever. Noelle realises that is what Asta does every day. She joins Asta in battle, casting her water shield around the girl while Leopold burns away the zombies, allowing Asta to rush straight at Jimmy and destroy him. Enraged, Rades summons No. 2 Alfred who attacks Asta with powerful lightning magic.
Episode 23: Nozel is confused about the lack of enemy strategy. Augustus Kira Clover XIII, the lazy and self-centred King of the Clover Kingdom, who is spending the battle safely with his mistresses in the castle, petulantly demands to know why the Wizard King is not there protecting him. Charmy Papittoson, a young Black Bull obsessed with food, sneaks into the palace kitchen so she can meet the royal chef. Asta cannot match Alfred’s speed so Fuegoleon steps in and burns Alfred to ash. Rades mocks Asta’s dream of becoming Wizard King using only Anti-magic. Fuegoleon is so impressed with Asta he decides to become his rival as well. He takes Asta’s place in the fight so Asta can recover. Rades reveals he used to be in the Purple Orca’s squad but was banished from the Clover Kingdom because his necromancy was considered unnatural. Fuegoleon attacks but Rades summons his strongest corpse, No. 1 Karl and hides behind Karl’s magic shield. Fuegoleon, being more experienced than Rades, blasts a fire bolt through the shields weakest point, destroying Karl and defeating Rades. The city begins to recover but a witch named Catherine flies overhead implying the battle is not over.
Episode 24: Noelle and Leopold defeat Rades final zombie, No.3 David. Fuegoleon examines Rades Grimoire and finds that it contains a single page with only one spell, meaning necromancy is all he is capable of. Rades is revealed to have a magic item in his ear transmitting someone’s voice that warns Rades to follow their master’s plan in future. A spell suddenly activates, the zombies having been used to lure Magic Knights into teleportation traps that send almost every Magic Knight in the city to far away locations. Catherine attacks the city and begins draining the mana from every magic user in the city, aging them while her she grows younger. Yuno, who escaped the trap, battles with her and Catherine reveals the invasion was aimed at one person, Fuegoleon Vermillion, who is suddenly transported away to a different location than the other Knights. Yuno is hit by curses stealing his vision and hearing. He almost gives up but he realises that with his sight gone he is more attuned to the flow of mana. He summons Sylph to manipulate all the mana in the city to strike Catherine with a massive hurricane. Meanwhile Fuegoleon is approached by a mage he recognises.
Episode 25:Catherine, drained of mana and now elderly, crashes through the wall of the palace kitchen where Charmy is feasting. She desperately tries to drain Charmy’s mana but Charmy, under the impression Catherine wants her food, summons a giant sheep who knocks Catherine through another wall. Catherine’s stolen mana returns to her victims who revert to their normal ages. Charmy’s meal almost falls through the wall as well but it is caught by Yuno, causing Charmy to develop a crush on him. The King demands the battle end soon as the noise is interfering with his nap. Noelle realises the mage who teleported Fuegoleon must be nearby and Asta uncovers him hiding beneath a pile of zombies. The mage, named Valtos, returns Fuegoleon, unconscious with his right arm torn off, meaning the mage Fuegoleon was teleported to is even stronger than a squad captain. Seeing his brother defeated shocks Leopold into near catatonia. Rades tries to escape through Valtos portal but Asta stops him. Rades other allies arrive and surround them. Asta, still suffering from No.4 Jimmy’s bleeding curse, slashes his own body with his swords, removing the curse and readying himself to fight as Rades allies move to attack them.
Episode 26: Asta and Leopold battle the mages together. Noelle casts her shield to prevent further harm to Fuegoleon who is slowly dying. Asta and Leopold are impaled by wind needles but are saved by the teleported Magic Knights who worked together to return to the city. Mimosa begins healing Fuegoleon. Rades and the mages flee through a portal, kidnapping Asta. Nozel decides searching for a commoner like Asta is not worth the effort. Solid and Nebra mock Fuegoleon for being defeated. The Magic Knights begin rebuilding the city’s defences while Noelle worries about Asta. Elsewhere Rades and the mages argue about his recklessness. One of the mages, Sally, wants to dissect Asta for his valuable Anti-magic. As they reach their hideout, they find Julius waiting for them as he overwhelms them by using his Time Magic to effortlessly kill two and capture the rest in seconds. Asta realises just how much he has to learn before becoming Wizard King. Julius expresses interest in a nearby stone tablet inlaid with several jewels, like the one from Saussy village, but a mysterious mage suddenly appears and blinds everybody with intense light magic.
Episode 27: The Light Magic mage disappears with the stone tablet after he and Julius briefly clashed. Julius returns Asta and his remaining prisoner to the city. Noelle is secretly happy he is safe, as are Klaus, Mimosa and Nero. Fuegoleon is revealed to be missing his jewel necklace which the Wizard King suspects is part of the stone tablet, now in possession of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, the group behind the invasion. Nozel swears revenge for Fuegoleon’s injuries. Leopold decides to become Wizard King. The Wizard King concludes one of his Magic Knights must be a traitor. Fuegoleon remains unconscious. Sally begins experimenting on Asta’s blood. The mysterious master is revealed to have been injured by the Wizard King’s Time magic, his right arm aged to that of an old man. He is shown to have thousands of followers. Asta argues with Yuno who responds with a powerful wind attack Asta struggles to nullify. It is shown Sylph, only visible to Yuno, has made his magic even more powerful. At the Black Bull’s hideout Magna has finally earned a star whereas Asta reveals that for defeating the invasion he has been promoted to Junior Magic Knight, Third Class, meaning he now outranks Magna.
Episode 28: Black Bull member Finral Roulacase has organised a mixer party of three women, himself, Asta and Luck. As they leave via Finral’s portal spell Noelle follows then hides, reasoning that she is ensuring Asta doesn’t get in trouble, when really she is jealous of him meeting other girls. At the mixer the ladies are definitely not impressed by Asta, Finral or Luck, deciding Asta is too young and a commoner, Finral is too flashy and Luck is too violent. Noelle is relieved the mixer is a disaster. Nearby Sekke is attending another mixer. Asta is left alone with a young woman named Rebecca Scarlet. After a few uneasy moments they end up bonding over the fact they both have multiple younger siblings, causing Noelle to panic. A large drunk man insults Rebecca so Asta furiously throws him across the room where he lands on Sekke, ruining his mixer. Rebecca develops a crush on Asta but decides to pursue him slowly after learning he loves someone else. Noelle mistakenly thinks Asta has a secret crush on her which makes her happy. Both Finral and Luck are rejected by the other two ladies because of their misunderstood belief of Black Bulls being too violent due to hearing that Asta threw the drunkard onto a table when he was defending Rebecca.

Episode 30: Gauche Adlai, a Black Bull obsessed with his 10 year old sister Marie, is happy because it is Marie’s birthday. Father Orgi and Sister Lily learn that Asta was promoted to Junior Magic Knight Third Class and Yuno has been promoted to First Class. Asta visits the village where Rebecca lives which infuriates Noelle. As Gauche gets to the orphanage where Marie lives he finds her playing with Asta and Rebecca’s siblings. He overreacts, scaring Rebecca’s siblings and upsetting Marie who has a crush on Asta. Gauche attempts to murder Asta until Sister Theresa Rapual, a nun who cares for Marie, stops him. Gauche argues with Theresa who is the reason he can visit Marie only once a month. Rebecca invites Asta to spend the night with at her house which causes her siblings to assume that that means she will try to seduce him. Noelle faints from the shock of hearing that. Gauche attempts to murder Asta in his sleep. Their fight leads outside where Asta realizes the whole village is covered in snow in the middle of summer. Rebecca intervenes and reveals two of her siblings, Luca and Marco, along with dozens of other children from the village, are missing. The children are shown in hypnotic trances being led away by Neige.
